Exercise
Curling is easy, right? It’s really just a 5 Kilometre hike, across ice, where half of your time is spent thrusting a broom across the ice surface in order to generate enough heat to actually melt the ice! It’s exercise – AEROBIC AND ANAEROBIC – With a side platter of balance, coordination and flexibility.
Social
There is no mobile app that compares to the SOCIAL Benefits of curling. In curling, “follows” are replaced by handshakes, “likes” are substituted with high-fives or fist-bumps and networks are formed via casual post-game conversation. Curling could be where you meet your spouse, your new boss or your business partner.
Inclusive
Recreational curling provides an opportunities for parents to compete alongside their children, or grand parents with their grandchildren, or husbands with their wives, or brothers with their sisters. What other activity provides the opportunity for multiple generations to compete or participation a level playing field.
Strategy
Most sports emphasize skill acquisition, skill execution and skill mastery as key components for success. In curling, strategy plays just as important a role as skill. Knowing what shot to take is just as important as executing the shot itself. This is why curling has appropriately earned the nickname of “CHESS ON ICE”.
Gratification
Curling is fun. It is played for the enjoyment of the game. It can relieve the stress of a long work week. One perfectly executed shot forgets previous misses. Team camaraderie extends to opponent camaraderie. A loss in curling is a post-game win.
